OBASSNO:  Anna Durance oboe,  Iona Garvie bassoon,

Holly Cullen-Davies piano

Anna, Holly and Iona are talented postgraduate students whose shared interest in chamber music and education led them to form Obassno at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2007. All have teaching experience from instrumental tuition, workshop activity and class teaching.

"A talented group of musicians who held the children's attention throughout the whole of the session. Along with their friendly manner and musicianship skills it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into the planning of the workshop beforehand, making the event a great success!" (Wigmore Hall).

Event 10 2008

Pond life

Obassno

Saturday October 18th,10am, &11.30am

Little Missenden Village Hall

Tickets £5 per child, accompanying parents free. Unreserved

A fascinating combination of performance, story-telling, workshop and participation – children listen to a performance, but also get actively involved in creative music-making.

Obassno will play The Tale of the Thoughtful Duck, the Lazy Frog, the Angry Pike, the Jolly Fisherman and the Beautiful Dragonfly (commissioned by Obassno and written by Ben Oliver for the Chamber Tots series at Wigmore Hall).  It’s an energetic fun piece that tells how several pond creatures escape from the angry pike who rules the pond – they’re lucky the crafty fisherman is around to catch the infamous Jaws-like fish.

The event will be aimed at the 4-7 year age-range. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult (admitted free!). There will be two performances (10 and 11.30am), as we will limit the number of children. That’s important because they take part, they don’t just listen.  But they won’t need special musical skills – anyone can come and enjoy it. Book early to avoid disappointment.
