Little Missenden Festival 2007

Event 11 2007

Celebrating Auden

John Fuller

Saturday October 20th, 5.00pm

Little Missenden village hall

Tickets adults £6, unreserved

W H Auden was one of England's greatest poets.  To mark his centenary we have invited John Fuller to read and discuss some of his poems.  Auden was Fuller's friend and mentor.

John Fuller himself is now one of Britain’s leading poets, and he will also read some of his own poems, and talk about Auden's influence on his work.  Fiona Sampson in the Guardian described Fuller as "one of our most musical poets", with an "exquisite metrical technique".

John Fuller is not only an eminent poet, but also a highly-respected novelist and critic.  He has written two acclaimed books on Auden:  Reader's Guide to W H Auden (1970) and W H Auden: a Commentary (1998).

He is an Emeritus Fellow of Magdalen College Oxford, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
