Kirris Riviere and the Delta du Bruit are firmly grounded in Bristol’s earthy blues scene and, in their words, ‘evolving through the spit and sawdust school of the South West’s live blues stages’. They began a new chapter late last year with the release of their first album – the band’s name as title on the sleeve.

Their ironically Francophile name pays homage to Kirris’s heritage and offers tribute to the cradle of the blues: New Orleans. The Severn Delta and the enigmatic Bristol hum are at the core of the name’s meaning and, in association with the lyrical French phrase “ça fait du bruit”, they say that they tread a sonic balance between cacophony and uproar. Their sound’s a mix of groove and rawness, defying easy categorization and atmospherically fusing country blues, soul, funk, boogie, gospel, and jump blues. But they also pay respect to the legends that paved the way, breathing new life into timeless classics from the likes of Muddy Waters, Percy Mayfield, Willie Dixon, and Billy Ward.

They were at Glastonbury in 2023 and we’re delighted to have them here at Little Missenden in 2024 in what will be an exciting first for the Festival.

“Writing and playing original material while staying inside blues traditions offers a very narrow space between ‘authenticity’ and lazy pastiche. The difference can often come down to personal style and the sincerity of your commitment to the music and happily Kirris and his band have both.” Tony Benjamin, B24/7

“The Delta du Bruit is clearly a band that knows its business, whether on Kirris’ and Evan’s jointly written originals or the occasional cover – there was a great version of Muddy Waters’ Can’t be Satisfied…” Tony Benjamin
